Jordan Zimmermann helped eXpertLeagues’ Dave Gawron win the Triple Crown National League championship in the 2014 season.

This list covers the following nine leagues. The idea of the Triple Crown leagues is for twelve sites to have one rep in each league. It is not exactly that way now, but several sites are currently participating in that manner, with a few more sites having reps in two of the three leagues.

Triple Crown Mixed (TCM)

This league was originally run via the CBS Sports league manager, which is unfortunately not currently viewable to the public, but articles are posted here on XL detailing Draft Results, Regular Season Results, and Playoff Results. The leagues were switched over to the ESPN league manager in 2013, and pages from that year forward are viewable to the public. It’s a twelve-team league with standard 5×5 Rotisserie rules and scoring pretty much along the lines of the original Tout Wars leagues. The teams are drafted in an auction format. FAAB is run every Saturday and Monday morning.

Triple Crown American League (TCAL)

This league was also originally run via the CBS Sports league manager but switched over to the ESPN league manager in 2013. It’s a twelve-team league with standard 5×5 Rotisserie rules and scoring pretty much along the lines of the original Tout Wars leagues. The teams are drafted in an auction format. FAAB is run every Saturday and Monday morning.

Triple Crown National League (TCNL)

This league was also originally run via the CBS Sports league manager but switched over to the ESPN league manager in 2013. It’s a twelve-team league with standard 5×5 Rotisserie rules and scoring pretty much along the lines of the original Tout Wars leagues. The teams are drafted in an auction format. FAAB is run every Saturday and Monday morning.

Blog Wars Baseball (BWB)

This league is run via the ESPN league manager. In this “deep mixed” league, fifteen teams compete in a league where the standard ESPN 5×5 Rotisserie rules and scoring are in place. The teams are drafted in a snake draft format. The participants are mostly writers. FAAB is run every Saturday and Monday morning.

Mic Wars Baseball (MWB)

This league is run via the ESPN league manager. Twelve teams usually compete in a a league where the standard ESPN rules and scoring are in place for the head-to-head, point-per-category format. For example, if you win HR, RBI, and SB one week but lose every other category, your team goes 3-7 that week. The teams are drafted in a snake draft. The participants are mostly podcasters or broadcasters. FAAB is run every Saturday and Monday morning.

The Ultimate American League Challenge (UALC)

This league was run via the CBS Sports league manager through 2014, so most of the results are not publicly viewable. The draft was a slow, rolling week-long snake draft sometime in March, but is now a one-night draft. The roster is a typical Roto roster but with the second catcher slot replaced with an extra utility player. It’s a 10-team AL-only league with FAAB running overnight Friday to Saturday and again Sunday to Monday. The scoring system is awesome. It’s head-to-head points, with all the typical Roto stats covered but also a hitting slant towards total bases, runs produced, and batting eye (BB:K) and a pitching slant that includes holds, giving middle relievers added value. The top six teams make the playoffs. The two division winners get byes out of the one-week Wild Card round, and then host two week Semi-Finals. Then the winners play in a two-week Finals. The league was established back in 2003!

The Ultimate National League Challenge (UNLC)

This league was also run via the CBS Sports league manager until 2015. It’s truly the granddaddy of them all, having been established in 2002! It’s a ten-team NL-only league that is the same as the UALC in scoring, playoffs, and in-season day-to-day operations. However, the draft is an auction format, and it’s a rare industry keeper league. The keeper rules make it special. We can share the whole offseason schedule at some point, but suffice it to say, it’s a really great set of keeper rules that makes it my absolute favorite Fantasy sports league of all time!

The Fantasy Baseball Insiders League (FBIL)

This league is run via the CBS Sports league manager. The rules change a little each year (sometimes auction, sometimes snake draft, sometimes varying transaction and lineup setting rules), but at its core it’s your basic 5×5 Roto 12-team mixed league. XL joined this league in 2011.

The RotoExperts Staff League (RXSL)

This is your standard, 12-team mixed league with 5×5 Roto scoring and a snake draft. I participated in 2012 and won the league, so I listed it here in that year, with a link to an XL article with the final standings.

And now, the list of champions…

THE FANTASY BASEBALL HALL OF FAME

In the head-to-head MIC WARS, UNLC, and UALC leagues, the teams listed below may not have been the “best” team at the end of the regular season, but they made it to the championship game and won it in order to earn their spot in the Hall! The other teams simply were the best, as they finished at the top of the standings at season’s end.
